3. MCR, Linux Cluster Xeon 2.4 GHz – Quadrics
MCR is the most powerful Linux supercomputer in the world. It wasbuilt for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in 2002. The cluster is used to conduct experiments in global climate modeling, material properties, earthquakes and other large-scale, high-performance simulations of physical phenomena.
