3D Systems Corp., a specialist in 3D printing, said Thursday that it has acquired a company called SYCODE, whose software works with popular computer-aided design (CAD) programs.
The acquisition price wasn’t announced. 3D Systems said it doesn’t expect the acquisition to be material to its financial results for 2011.
3D printing works much like regular printing, except that the output is literally a 3D product created by the machine, using commands sent by a computer. They are popular among designers for building prototypes.
