6. ASCI Linux Cluster, Xeon 2.4 GHz
The ASCI Linux Cluster is also installed at LLNL. The machine is currently in limited-access mode for science runs and file system testing. The unclassified 960-node cluster will provide computing cycles for ASCI Alliance users and unclassified ASCI code development. It features an identical – although slightly smaller – configuration to the MCR System at LLNL. The compatability of Intel NetBurst microarchitecture, Hyper-Threading Technology and Integrated Three Level Cache Subsystems provide the performance and scalability required for demanding enterprise applications and strategic consolidation projects.
