American Red Cross says Noble Energy Inc. is donating $40,000 to help support the needs of residents impacted by the power outages throughout West Virginia.
About 680,000 customers in the state were without power, many for more than a week following the recent summer storms.
Officials say the majority of the funding will go to the American Red Cross’ West Virginia Region for various statewide efforts and other money will go to the organization’s River Valley chapter that serves the area where the company operates.
Noble Energy is a Texas-based independent oil and gas company. It began operating in the northern panhandle in January when it starting operational work with partner Consol Energy. The company is currently operating two rigs in Marshall County but will be expanding in the coming months.
