DASGIP AG, a leading provider of parallel benchtop bioreactor systems, is now giving users of its technology online access to their bioprocesses via the iPad. The DASGIP iApp is one of the few industrial applications that will be premiered during the grand opening of the iPad on the App Store slated for April 3, 2010.
In contrast to other adapted iPhone applications, the DASGIP iApp is a universal application that is optimally designed for the iPad medium. “The Apple iPad, with its large touch screen and wide selection of display views, offers an outstanding platform for visualizing the processes that we monitor and control with our bioreactor systems,” says Dr. Matthias Arnold, DASGIP Chief Scientific Officer. “By combining our hardware and software with the iPad, we are establishing milestones with respect to the user-friendliness and visualization of biotechnology processes.”
The DASGIP iApp for the iPad allows users to monitor and control all relevant process values in up to 16 parallel reactors at different locations around the world in online mode. Users can enjoy a wide range of display options using different windows, zoom and rotation functions, all of which can be intuitively managed in typical Apple fashion. In the trend chart for instance, users can glance at the reference and process values as well as the control profile. They can also use the graphic timeline to browse around between historical and real-time process variable data in a stepless manner. Compared to pure web-based bioreactor monitoring, the iPad lets users manage their bioreactor systems with unsurpassed speed and ease.
The universal DASGIP iApp supports parallel remote access to globally-distributed bioreactor systems with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Data security is ensured by utilizing VPN connectivity.
