Dendrobates azureus inhabits small isolated pockets in French Guinea and northeastern Brazil. It thrives in humid, usually wet habitats, as its skin is not waxy enough to prevent evaporation in dry air. The frog’s diet consists of small insects and spiders. Males defend their territories optically and vocally, giving off humming, trilling or chirping sounds from two vocal slits and an unpaired jugular vocal sac.
