Red Hat has certified SGI servers with the largest x86 server configuration to date for their Enterprise Linux operating system. The SGI UV 1000 server with 1,280 cores and 8TB of memory now runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. In addition to validating compatibility, certification gives customers the confidence that this SGI server configuration is fully supported by Red Hat. The operating system helps facilitate organizations’ transition to emerging data center models including virtualization and cloud computing. With support across the major hardware architectures, hypervisors and commercial Cloud providers, the software makes the transition between physical and different virtual environments in a predictable and secure manner. Tools and capabilities enable administrators to tailor the application environment to efficiently monitor and manage compute resources and security.
