Harlan Laboratories, Inc., a leading contract research organization and research models and services company, has elected Hans Thunem the company’s new chief executive officer and board member.
Thunem brings a wide breadth of experience to his new role at Harlan. He previously served as the company’s group president of research models and services business. He has held senior management positions in the oil, high technology and life sciences industries. Prior to joining Harlan, Thunem was chief executive officer at Lifelabs, Canada’s largest private sector medical diagnostics provider.
“Our criteria was to find a person with great leadership skills, strategic vision, operational experience, a track record of success and who shares our excitement about the future of Harlan,” said Paul Clark, interim CEO and board member. “We feel that Hans embodies everything we are looking for in a new CEO and we are highly enthusiastic about our company’s direction under his leadership.”
Thunem’s career has been characterized by taking on transformational assignments that have helped his organizations significantly improve in terms of growth and profitability. He has also led business sale transactions in both the high-technology and life sciences sectors.
“I’m excited about taking on the role of CEO at Harlan Laboratories,” said Thunem. “I believe that I bring a set of experiences that will be particularly useful at this unique time in the history of our company. Thunem holds a master’s degree in health sciences from the University of Toronto and a bachelor of sciences degree in life sciences from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.
