The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) is awarding Contec, Inc.’s David Nobile with the prestigious Robert J. Mielke Award for 2015. Nobile is receiving the award for his work as chairman of the IEST Working Group currently revising the IEST Recommended Practice “Evaluation of Wipers Used in Cleanrooms and Other Controlled Environments.”
The award was created in honor of Robert L. Mielke’s outstanding contributions to IEST’s development of standards and practices, and is presented to a member of the IEST Working Group program who has made significant and substantial contributions to the development of Recommended Practices in the Contamination Control Division. The recipient must also demonstrate professional distinction and leadership, dedication, hard work, and innovative abilities in the participation of WG activities and in the contributions to the development of Recommended Practices.

David Nobile has been involved with IEST for 30 years. In that time, he has given multiple educational presentations, served on several Working Groups, and was the previous chair of the Working Group (WG-025) to create test methods for swabs. The Working Group Nobile currently chairs is nearing completion on efforts to improve the rigor and usefulness of test methods for wipes and, for the first time ever, provide guidelines for wipe selection based on environment and application.
David Nobile is a key technical resource in contamination control for the pharmaceutical, biomedical, microelectronic, disk drive, aerospace, and other critical manufacturing industries. He is currently Senior Technical Service Engineer for Contec, Inc. and has more than 32 year’s of experience developing products and processes for cleanroom and other industrial applications, and holds several patents.
