Leipzig, Germany – The 2014 International Supercomputing Conference is now accepting submissions, ranging from tutorial and birds of a feather (BoF) session proposals, research paper and poster abstracts, as well as student volunteer program applications. The ISC’14 Call for Papers is supported by the IEEE Germany Section.
ISC’14, the 29th in the International Supercomputing Conference series, will be held from June 22 to 26 for the second time in Leipzig, Germany. ISC is the largest high performance computing conference and exhibition in Europe and is attended by some 2,500 academicians, industry leaders and end-users from around the world. The ISC Exhibition attracts around 170 vendors from the supercomputing, storage and network sectors, as well as universities, national and international research centers and laboratories.
All the above mentioned programs offer students, researchers, engineers, scientists and members of the community an excellent platform to publish their research results or create awareness for their ongoing research. Important deadlines are as follows:

ISC Research Papers
All abstracts and full papers need to be submitted via the EasyChair conference system. An early submission of abstracts is required so that papers can be distributed according to the expertise of individual committee member. Please refer to the ISC’14 website for full submission guidelines or contact the program coordinator, Ms. Heike Walther, at heike.walther@isc-events.com.
High-quality research papers reporting original work in theoretical, experimental and industry research and development are sought in the following areas:
- Architectures (multicore/manycore systems, heterogeneous systems, network technology and programming models)
- Algorithms and Analysis (scalability on future architectures, performance evaluation and tuning)
- Data Centers (batch job management, job mix and system utilization, monitoring and administration tools, production efficiency and energy efficiency)
- Large-Scale Simulations (workflow management, data analysis and visualization, coupled simulations, industrial simulations, scalable applications: 50K+ threads)
- Future Trends (exascale HPC, HPC in the cloud)
- Storage and Data (file systems and tape libraries, data intensive applications and databases)
- Software Engineering in HPC (application of methods, surveys)
- Supercomputing Facility (batch job management, job mix and system utilization and monitoring and administration tools)
Submissions on other innovative aspects of high-performance computing are also welcome.
NEW — Research Thrust: Cost-Efficient Data Centers (submitted paper should quantify cost efficiency on the scale of a data center. Employees from industry and data centers are encouraged to share their best practices.
ISC Awards Program
Two awards will be given to the most outstanding research papers. The first is the Gauss Award, which will be awarded to the most outstanding paper in the field of scalable supercomputing. It is sponsored by the German Gauss Center for Supercomputing, a collaboration between the German national supercomputing centers at Garching, Juelich and Stuttgart. The winner will be awarded 3,000 Euros and be given the opportunity to deliver a keynote during the research session, which focuses on the winning paper.
The second one is the PRACE (the Partnership for Advanced Computing) Award, which will be given to the best paper submitted to the ISC Research Paper Session in one of the following areas: a breakthrough in science achieved through high performance computing; an algorithms or implementations that achieves a significant improvements in scalability or performance; and a novel approach to performance evaluation on massively parallel architecture. The winner will also have the opportunity to deliver a keynote about their work during the session.
ISC’14 Tutorials
The ISC’14 Tutorials are intended as educational sessions that cover all areas as listed on the Call for Papers. However, ISC encourages tutorials of broad applicability rather than those focusing solely on research in a limited domain or a particular group.
We also encourage presenters to incorporate hands-on sessions, where it is appropriate, and provide the attendees with a comprehensive introduction to the state-of-the-art in the topic before moving on to cover specific approaches in more depth.
HPC in Asia Poster Session – Open to Asians and Australians
This is an excellent opportunity for young researchers and graduate students from Asia and Australia to showcase their latest research results, new projects and innovations to an international audience. The accepted posters will be displayed alongside the ISC’14 Research Posters and later during the HPC in Asia poster session. Submission guidelines are now online.
About ISC’14
Approaching its 29th year, ISC is the world’s oldest and one of the most important conferences for the HPC community, offering a strong five-day technical program with a wide range of expert speakers and exhibits from leading research centers and vendors. A number of events complement the technical program, including Tutorials, the TOP500 Announcement, Research Paper Sessions, the Birds of a Feather (BoF) Sessions, Research Poster Session, Exhibitor Forums, Workshops and the popular Vendor Showdown” featuring leaders from industry and research centers.
ISC’14 is open to IT-decision makers, scientists, members of the HPC global community and other interested parties. The ISC exhibition allows analysts, decision-makers from the automotive, defense, aeronautical, gas & oil, banking and other industries, as well as solution providers, data storage suppliers, distributors, hardware and software manufacturers, the media, scientists and universities to see and learn firsthand about new products, applications and technological advances in the supercomputing industry today.
