Linear Position Sensors

By R&D Editors | August 29, 2013

Alliance Sensors Group has released its LV-48 linear position sensors designed and sealed to IP-68 for outdoor use in the harshest conditions. LV-48 sensors offers users the ability to monitor structures for creep or expansion, sense roller position in a steel mill or a calendar in a paper mill, or indicate process valve position by using a proprietary inductive technology that allows it to replace traditional DC-LVDTs, linear potentiometers, and magnetostrictive sensors in most applications. Its simple inductive coil design permits the sensor to be shorter and more rugged than other technologies while still operating over the temperature range of and in high vibration and shock environments. The built-in DC-in / DC-out electronics permits the user to avoid having to deal with external signal conditioning electronics.

Features:

  • 5 ranges- 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300mm

  • Operating temp range -40C to 85C

  • 0-10VDC or 4-20mA output

  • Double shaft seals to keep dirt and grime out of the bore-

  • ½-20 UNF externally threaded core rod- the core is captivated so it can’t come out

  • 48mm Outer diameter housing in aluminum or stainless-steel with 5mm wall thickness

The LV-48 is powered from 24 VDC and is offered with either an analog current or voltage output that can be trimmed after the LV-48 is installed using Alliance Sensors’ proprietary SenSet range adjustability feature, which allows the user to match the analog output to the actual range of motion being measured. For ease of installation, Alliance Sensors Group can offer LV-48s with optional mounting flanges, rod eye ends, and a variety of connector or cable terminations.
