LithStor building provides solutions for lithium batteries

By R&D Editors | December 11, 2009

Safety Storage LithStor prefabricated storage buildings meet specialized containment needs for businesses and industry, military, homeland security, and government agencies managing the storage of new and used lithium batteries.

Compact, space-saving pre-fabricated lithium battery storage buildings from Safety Storage provide protection to personnel and safeguard inventory of lithium batteries from the potential of highly ignitable and extremely hazardous conditions.

LithStorTM buildings are constructed from unitized, welded, heavy-gauge steel for strength and stability, a 2-hour bi-directional separation wall to separate new and used lithium batteries, and also feature a Class D fire extinguisher to extinguish any fires that can occur within the storage facility.  Buildings meet UL 263 for 2-HR Uni-Directional construction and can be outfitted to meet specific requirements for environmental safety and security.

The Factory Mutual (FM) approved and labeled LithStor building includes oversized, leak-tight built-in containment sumps to capture hazardous spills or leaks from damaged batteries. UL-classified 3-hour fire-rated doors with self-closer systems, a security lock and interior safety release system protects building contents from theft and vandalism.  Integral air vents with 3-hour fire dampers are provided to eliminate the accumulation of flammable or explosive vapors.

For greatest utility, ease-in-use and convenience, LithStor may be customized by selecting interior and/or exterior lighting, heating, air conditioning, mechanical ventilation, stainless steel shelving, corrosion-resistant sump liners, alarm system, removable fiberglass floor grating, or other custom features.

Optional accessories are available and can be viewed on the Safety Storage website at www.SafetyStorage.com
