MathWorks announced the availability of the latest version of SimBiology, which provides new features and enhanced performance capabilities, including multiple dosing schemes, for pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling and simulation of biological systems.
Pharmacokineticists and computational biologists use SimBiology to create, simulate, and analyze both mechanistic and PK/PD models in one software environment. SimBiology simplifies the modeling workflow and reduces simulation and fitting times by providing a graphical interface for constructing mechanistic models.
With the new enhancements, users can select from multiple fitting algorithms, including stochastic approximation expectation-maximization (SAEM), and compare results with other fitting algorithms. The tool’s graphical interface also now enables users to apply multiple dosing schemes to their models, eliminating the need to manually schedule dosing.
New features available in SimBiology include:
• SAEM algorithm for fitting population data
• Support for applying multiple dosing schemes to a model
• Enhanced support for importing NONMEM formatted files
• New mode for accelerating simulations
SimBiology is available immediately. U.S. list prices start at $3,000 per seat. MATLAB (available separately) is required for SimBiology. Statistics Toolbox (available separately) is required for parameter estimation using nonlinear mixed effects.
