Product and Process Modelling Conference at UCC
UCC will host the 8th European Conference on Product and Process Modelling.
The ECPPM 2010 conference will be an open forum for leading specialists from industry and research communities on developments in different countries worldwide, bringing together expertise, knowledge, ongoing research and visions relevant to ICT-based applications and intelligent computing in engineering that address information, process and project management, optimised building operation, energy efficiency and e-learning with strong emphasis on Architecture, Engineering and Construction.
ECPPM Industry Day
In addition, ECPPM201 will host an industry day “tailored” to current industry trends and the economic situation of the Irish Construction Market. In two morning sessions on the 16th of September, 2010 participants from industry will be provided with focused “insights” from the National and European Research Arena.
ICT for Energy-Efficiency in Buildings
Two sessions will focus on “ICT for Energy-Efficiency in Buildings”.
The first session presents “tangible” national Irish R&D achievements in the area of “Energy Monitoring Platforms”. Researchers from the Tyndall Institute, University College Cork, and National University Ireland Galway will explain how energy data can be effectively sensed, metered and used for the analysis of building performance, energy rating, and the delivery of value-added services in the Facility Management sector.
The second session will present an in-depth analysis of more than 80 European “Best Practices” in “ICT for Energy-Efficiency in Buildings”. Furthermore, it will explain the potentials for the development of new Business Models based on the extended availability and improved accessibility of Energy Data in ICT-supported Energy Models.
A third session focuses on the presentation of potentials to achieve substantial efficiency gains in process management through the usage of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and 4D-CAD. One presentation focuses on the EU-project inPro, a joint European R&D initiative with participation from leading European Construction companies, such as Boygues (France), HOCHTIEF (Germany), NCC (Sweden), Max Boegel (Germany), Granlund.
