Ajinomoto AminoScience, LLC, announced the launch of Corynex Recombinant Protein Expression System, a streamlined , more efficient process to express proteins. The breakthrough, patented system overcomes traditional microbial expression difficulties by secreting correctly folded, active proteins directly into the growth media. This system eliminates costly and time consuming downstream purification steps which reduce production costs and accelerate speed to market for Ajinomoto’s pharmaceutical and biotech partners.
This advanced technology is Ajinomoto’s answer to a recent analysis of biotechnology manufacturing by BioPlan Associates, a biotechnology marketing research firm in Rockville, Maryland. In the January 2009 study entitled “Genetic Expression Systems: Current and Future Manufacturing Platforms,” the firm outlines the need for advances in manufacturing. The study describes a “reluctance” by companies to modernize with new technology and methodologies so products can be made “more efficiently and to higher clinical standards.”
