Spectroscopy Software
The software driving the ELAN family of inductively-coupled plasma-mass spectrometers (ICP-MS) has been upgraded. The new ELAN 3.0 software running under the Windows XP operating system offers many new capabilities and ease of use enhancements that improve laboratory productivity. For instance, common instrument parameters are automatically optimized through a new SmartTune wizard. This feature optimizes sensitivity and performs mass calibration and resolution adjustment all with a single mouse click. Other time-saving functions include the ability to insert priority samples while an analysis is in progress as well as append samples to a run list. Whenever new samples are added, the software intelligently re-sequences samples and QCs to maintain the frequency of QC checks. A complete run list can also be printed to make loading the autosampler easier and prevent solution placement errors in large automated runs. Unique sample IDs can be applied to QC samples and calibration standards to enhance QC reporting and post-run data analysis. Improved chromatographic control facilitates inorganic speciation analysis.
