TULSA, OK – The 14th annual KDnuggets Software Poll, conducted in May 2013, attracted record participation of 1,880 internet voters, more than doubling the previous year’s numbers. KDnuggets.com is a data mining portal and newsletter publisher for the data mining community with more than 12,000 subscribers.
The poll asked: “What Analytics, Data Mining, or Big Data software have you used in the past 12 months for a real project (not just evaluation)?” E-mail verification was used to ensure one vote per respondent.
As expected, free software (e.g., R or Rapid Miner) and general numerical/computational tools (e.g., Excel) were selected by the highest number of participants. Howwever, StatSoft’s STATISTICA received top ratings among commercial general statistical analysis and BI packages, as well as commercial dedicated data mining applications.
Additionally, 45.9 percent of StatSoft software users identified STATISTICA as their ONLY data mining / analytics tool used during the past year, reflecting the comprehensiveness of STATISTICA‘s capabilities when applied to real-world projects.
