Thermo LabSystems and Thermo Galactic rename to Thermo Electron Corporation

Thermo LabSystems and Thermo Galactic, both Thermo Electron businesses have announced that, with immediate effect and in line with the current Thermo Electron integration strategy, the LabSystems and Galactic names will cease to exist and the informatics business of Thermo Electron will trade simply as Thermo Electron Corporation. Development, support and marketing of Thermo’s informatics products brands, including SampleManager LIMS, Nautilus LIMS, Atlas CDS, eRecordManager data archival and knowledge management solution, and GRAMS A/I spectral data processing product will continue to be managed from the Altrincham, UK and Salem, New Hampshire facilities.

Commenting on the change, Marc Casper, president of the Life and Laboratory Sciences sector of Thermo Electron stated: “In the last few years, Thermo Electron has made great progress in transforming itself from what was a disparate array of businesses into a single focused company. This is giving us the ability to leverage the breadth of our technological and commercial capabilities to better meet our customers’ needs. It is significant that our informatics business is the first of our businesses to embrace the Thermo Electron brand in this way, given the role their products play in integrating so many of our customers’ laboratory operations. We feel it will accelerate our goal of becoming the world’s premier provider of products and services to the laboratory.”
