The Tianhe-1A Supercomputer at the National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin, China, consumes only four megawatts, making it three times more power-efficient than a CPU-only machine. The power saved by using GPUs is enough to power your home for 8000 years — give or take. One of the world’s fastest supercomputers, Tianhe-1A uses more than 7,000 NVIDIA Tesla GPUs and only about half as much power as the CPU-powered Jaguar supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
