Variable Field Module
The Variable Field Module (VFM), for use with the MFP-3D AFM System, applies an in-plane magnetic field to a sample exceeding +2000 Oersted with less than 1 Oersted resolution. Applications are found in magnetic force microscopy (MFM), conductance and those where the sample has a dependence on the applied field. The module features adjustable pole tips that allow the maximum value of the applied field to be increased or decreased. It uses a design that incorporates rare earth magnets to produce the magnetic field, resulting in no heating or drift as the field changes. The field intensity is easily controlled through the software interface.
