Iron Nitride Soft Magnetics
Category: Process/Prototyping
Developers: Sandia National Laboratories
Co-Developers: University of California, Irvine
United States
Product Description:Iron nitride (Fe4N) is a high magnetization (1.89 T) and resistivity (200 μΩ•m) soft magnetic alloy capable of operating at temperatures exceeding 200 °C. Fe4N will increase the efficiency of smart grid power electronics, transformers, and electric machines while reducing their size and weight by an order of magnitude.
