Bright Computing Bundles Rogue Wave’s TotalView in Strategic Partnership

By R&D Editors | May 30, 2013

Boulder, CO – Rogue Wave Software, an independent provider of cross-platform software development tools and embedded components for the next-generation of high performance computing (HPC) applications, has announced a strategic partnership with Bright Computing. With this partnership agreement, Bright Computing will bundle Rogue Wave’s TotalView advanced debugger with its Bright Cluster Manager product. Bright Computing’s new and existing customers will now receive a scalable, multi-core debugger, with both reverse and memory debugging functions, to help increase productivity and shorten development lifecycles. The offer will be extended to Bright Computing’s customers via registration and download.

Bright Cluster Manager is used worldwide by public and private-sector organizations to provision, monitor and manage on-premise clusters, as well as to seamlessly extend these clusters into the cloud. Bright manages all types of HPC clusters and server farms, including CPU and GPU clusters, storage and database clusters, plus Big Data Hadoop clusters.

“Rogue Wave is pioneering the concept of pairing a commercial debugger with a leading cluster management solution,” stated Scott Lasica, Vice President of Product Management & Marketing at Rogue Wave. “Through this strategic agreement, both Bright Computing and Rogue Wave are strengthening their abilities to effectively serve organizations around the world. Most importantly, Bright Computing’s customers will now have a world-class debugger included with their cluster management solution.”

“We are pleased to offer Rogue Wave’s TotalView debugger at no additional cost to our customers,” stated Dr. Matthijs van Leeuwen, CEO of Bright Computing. “Rogue Wave’s debugger has been solving some of the world’s most complex development problems for more than twenty years, and now our customers can directly benefit from this track record.”

TotalView is designed to be a scalable and intuitive debugger for parallel applications written in C, C++, and Fortran and to improve developer productivity by simplifying and shortening the process of developing, debugging and optimizing complex applications. TotalView provides capabilities for pinpointing and fixing hard-to-find bugs, such as race conditions, memory leaks and memory overruns. Providing developers the ability to step freely, both forwards and backwards, through program execution, its unique reverse debugging capabilities drastically reduce the amount of time invested in troubleshooting code. To help developers maximize hardware capabilities, TotalView also provides debugging support for NVIDIA CUDA, OpenACC and the Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor.
