SEG 2015 Society of HPC Professionals Focus Group

By R&D Editors | August 5, 2015

SEG 2015 Society of HPC Professionals Focus GroupOctober 18-23, 2015
New Orleans, LA

The history of geophysics has been associated with computing technology from its inception and has consistently provided challenges and opportunities to enhance hardware, software and infrastructure solutions to match the performance and quality of the industry’s algorithms, data consumption and exploration advances.

The Geophysical Industry constantly increases the demands placed on High Performance Computing (HPC) suppliers to process more data faster than ever before; and this trend has become strikingly evident at recent SEG Annual Meetings. Considering the SEG’s interest and need in HPC, the SEG in cooperation with the Society of HPC Professionals (SHPCP) has brought together a group of HPC organizations that will exhibit in a common area on the Exhibit Hall floor and make technical presentation available in an adjacent theater. This theater, with approximately 50 seats, will showcase a state-of-the-art 4K UltraHD screen.

Sponsors of the HPC Focused Group will deliver presentations in the theater with daily programs focused on HPC topics. The Theater Program can be found in a flyer that is included in your Attendee’s delegate bag.

Several SHPCP Sponsors are regular exhibitors at the SEG Annual Meetings. However, the HPC Focused Group will also have participants that are first-time exhibitors at the SEG—bringing new technology to the Industry. The following organizations are currently signed up and will be participating in the HPC Focused Group: Adaptive Computing, Altair, Arista Networks, Avere Systems, Christie Digital, Cray, GeoComputing, HGST, Hitachi, IBM, Intel, NetApp, Numerical Algorithms, Panasas, Penguin Computing, PCPC Direct, Seagate, Unique Digital, and Violin Memory.
