AMAX, a trusted leader in Custom OEM x86 Appliances, Server, Cluster and Storage Solutions in North America, has announced registration is now open for its inaugural AMAX Ballapalooza Silicon Valley basketball tournament, with proceeds to benefit Autism Speaks. AMAX Ballapalooza is a fun and dynamic two-day out-of-the-box networking event centered around a 5-on-5 co-ed basketball tournament, bringing together key members of the technology ecosystem to combine face-to-face networking with competitive sports. The philosophy is that those who battle together on the court are more likely to do business together, while building strong relationships both inside and outside the office.
The format of this networking event is like no other, offering multiple opportunities for networking and bonding. Basketball players from tech companies around the country will be joining, many of whom have never met face to face, and many of whom have never seen each other outside of a meeting room in suits and ties. Players will face off, battle it out, and then laugh about it over beers. Walls will be broken down, and long-lasting partnerships will be formed. No other tech networking event will provide this level of intensity of interaction, or such a fun way of getting to know each other. From there, doing business will be a natural extension of this experience.
AMAX Ballapalooza will take place at Paye’s Place in San Carlos, CA — a strategic Silicon Valley location, founded by former San Francisco 49er football quarterback John Paye, with 3 NBA-sized basketball courts. The event schedule is as follows:

In connection with Autism Speaks, 50% of all registration proceeds will be donated to the organization in an effort to fund research and awareness into the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for autism. Both AMAX and Autism Speaks are dedicated to this cause and raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families and society, and to bring hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. Together with Autism Speaks, AMAX aims to bring the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global health crisis.
“We are pleased to be partnered with AMAX for their inaugural Ballapalooza as the effort will directly affect the lives of individuals with autism and will help to fund development of new treatments so that we may better understand the diagnostic criteria and causes of autism,” said Phillip Hain, West Region Director for Autism Speaks.
Ballapalooza would not be possible without the generous sponsorships from industry partners Emulex, AMD, NVIDIA, LSI, STEC, Kingston and local partner Sports Authority.
“Our partnership with AMAX and our platinum sponsorship of Ballapaloza is a great example of how channel partners are doing more than just reselling, they are developing real solutions and real relationships to solve real customer problems,” said Shaun Walsh, senior vice president of marketing and business development, Emulex. “We share AMAX’s dedication to quality, performance, reliability and customer commitment, and address customers’ needs for high performance computing, big data, virtualized and cloud environments, with a broad range of I/O connectivity solutions that take enterprise data centers to the next level, while reducing OPEX.”
