ALLEGAN, Mich. (AP) – Generic drugmaker Perrigo Co. said it received U.S. approval to market a generic version of Novartis’ over-the-counter heart burn medication Prevacid.
Perrigo said in a statement it has already begun selling the drug to its customers, which include the major U.S. pharmacy chains and other retailers. Perrigo makes store-brand versions of common over-the-counter medications, as well as its own line of generic prescription drugs.
Prevacid had over-the-counter sales of about $220 million last year, according to Perrigo.
