For years, R&D
Magazine has been honoring the scientists and researchers behind some of
the greatest innovations and discoveries in science with the Innovator of the
Year and Scientist of the Year Awards. This year is no exception; R&D Magazine is again turning to the
R&D community to help us identify the best minds in research and
development by nominating candidates for our Scientist of the Year, Innovator
of the Year, and Young Innovator of Year awards.
Last year, R&D Magazine honored Dow AgroScience’s Thomas
Sparks as Scientist of the Year for his groundbreaking work in insecticide
development. Hans van Leeuwen earned the Innovator of the Year for 2009 for his
many inventions involving microbial processes including water purification,
ships ballast water treatment, vodka, and the MycoMax and Mycofuel processes.
Honored with the first ever Young Innovator of the Year Award was Kevin Sill
for his development of the IVECT Method, a nano-sized polymer micelle that will
help target and kill cancer.
The readers of R&D
Magazine can now nominate candidates for the 2010 edition of the Scientist
