Magma Design Automation has
launched Silicon One, an initiative intended to bring focus to making silicon
profitable for customers by providing differentiated solutions and technologies
that address business imperatives facing semiconductor makers.
“Some EDA vendors attempt to be all things to
all people. They try to lock customers into complete end-to-end flows, but it
simply isn’t possible for one company to do everything well—there is no ‘one
size fits all’ in EDA,” said Rajeev Madhavan, Magma’s chairman and chief
executive officer. “By comparison, Magma is focused on making silicon
profitable for our customers. We concentrate on providing differentiated
solutions and technologies that address all of the main business issues that
chip makers are currently facing when dealing with the convergence of digital,
analog, and memory systems in a single chip.
Silicon One’s initial focus is on five types of
devices that are key to electronic products that are most prevalent today: ASIC/ASSP,
analog/mixed-signal (AMS), memory, processing cores, and system-on-chip.
