Upcoming Solstice webinar to examine hidden sources of lab variability

In a survey of more than 1,000 laboratory personnel across five countries, quality, safety, and purity emerged as the leading considerations when purchasing research chemicals. Cost ranked near the bottom, according to findings previously presented by Honeywell’s research chemicals business, now part of Solstice Advanced Materials.

Those priorities pave the way to a larger operational question of how labs can reduce the variability, rework and workflow friction that consume research time long after purchasing decisions are made?

An upcoming R&D World webinar from Solstice Advanced Materials will dig into that question. On September 17 at 11:00 a.m. EDT, Amanda Shapiro, lead product manager for Solstice Advanced Materials Research Chemicals, will explore how to identify those sources of variability and reduce operational friction in the lab.

It will discuss practical strategies for improving reproducibility, reducing operational friction, and creating laboratory conditions that support more consistent scientific progress.

A recent Solstice product launch illustrates the stakes involved in routine lab procurement workflows. On August 19, the company introduced high-purity Chromasolv LC-MS solvents specifically evaluated for ultra-low PFAS background. At the trace concentrations involved in PFAS analysis, contamination already present in a laboratory solvent can increase background signals, produce false-positive detections or require repeat testing. The company reported that third-party testing found all evaluated PFAS compounds below applicable reporting limits across three production lots each of water, methanol and acetonitrile.
