Colfax Announces Free Online Training in Parallel Programming and Optimization for Intel Architecture

By R&D Editors | August 13, 2015

The HOW series includes 10 two-hour sessions and up to three weeks of remote access to dedicated training servers for hands-on exercises.SUNNYVALE, CA — Colfax International announced free online workshops on parallel programming and optimization for Intel architecture, including Intel Xeon processors and Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors.

The Hands-on Workshop (HOW) series will introduce best practices to researchers and developers to efficiently extract maximum performance out of modern parallel processors, achieving shorter time to solution, higher research productivity and future-proof design.

The HOW series is an integral part of the Intel Modern Code Developer Program which supports developers to leverage application performance in code through a systematic optimization methodology.

“Since launching parallel programming training programs in 2013, we have trained over 3,000 students,” said Gautam Shah, CEO and President of Colfax International. “We are thrilled to launch the online HOW series reaching out to more researchers and developers worldwide by bringing best practices right at their desktop.”

The HOW series includes 10 two-hour sessions and up to three weeks of remote access to dedicated training servers for hands-on exercises. Training programs beginning on August 17 and September 7, 2015, are free to everyone thanks to Intel’s support.

In these sessions, researchers and developers will:

  • Learn how to accelerate applications by using all the parallel programming features of the hardware.
  • Learn and apply multi-level parallelism techniques such as vectorization, multi-threading, and multi-node optimizations.
  • Interact with HPC experts through an interactive lecture and hands-on labs.
  • Optimize code and experience the performance gain by applying the best parallel computing practices on an Intel Xeon processor and Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor-based cluster.
  • Get 24-hour remote access to training servers for up to three weeks.
  • Receive a certificate of completion issued by Colfax.

“Extracting the full performance potential from today’s server hardware requires software developers apply the latest advanced parallel programming techniques,” said Hugo Saleh, Director of Marketing and Industry Development, Technical Computing Group at Intel. “Colfax’s new, Web-based Hands-On Workshop series promises to greatly expand developer access to these valuable techniques and streamline their use in generating the faster codes upon which so much engineering innovation and scientific discovery depends.”

Additionally Colfax also offers onsite developer training programs and code modernization consultancy.
