Amtec Announces Corporate Name Change
Amtec Engineering, Inc., a data visualization software developer, changed its corporate name to Tecplot, Inc., effective December 1. The company’s flagship product, Tecplot, was first released in 1987. Research has indicated that the company is more widely known in the engineering and scientific marketplace by its product name (Tecplot) than by its former corporate name (Amtec).
“In addition to the strong name recognition of Tecplot by our target market, we also chose to rename our company to more clearly communicate our overall strategy of expanding the Tecplot product family,” said Mike Peery, the president and chief executive officer of Tecplot, Inc. “We currently have products for general engineering, application development, and reservoir simulation. Our strategy is to develop and release additional data visualization products under the Tecplot umbrella.”
Three products currently comprise the Tecplot product family: Tecplot, a technical plotting software package with extensive XY, 2- and 3-D capabilities for visualizing data from analyses, simulations and experiments; Tecplot Edge, a customizable version of Tecplot that can be easily integrated with third-party applications allowing developers to quickly add plotting, graphing and advanced data visualization functionality to their own applications; and Tecplot RS (Reservoir Simulation), an integrated plotting environment designed specifically for oil reservoir modeling.
Another member of the Tecplot product family is the newly revamped Tecplot Solution Services, an internal group of consultants and software engineers that provides fee-based application development, visualization research and customization services on behalf of Tecplot customers.
