Hamilton Scientific continues expansion to LEED-certified building

By R&D Editors | July 18, 2013

Hamilton Scientific, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of laboratory furniture and fume hoods for the education, healthcare and industrial laboratory markets, has moved its corporate headquarters from Two Rivers, Wisconsin to a new, LEED certified, 20,000 SF building in De Pere, Wisconsin.
Hamilton Scientific, a leading manufacturer of laboratory furniture and fume hoods for the education, healthcare and industrial markets, has moved its corporate headquarters from Two Rivers, WI to a new, contemporary, 20,000 SF building in De Pere. The new facility has earned a Silver LEED Green Building System accreditation, which is the national benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
“This move marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Hamilton Scientific” stated Jack Roberts, President/CEO. “The new building occupancy provides us with the features, flexibility and efficiencies we need to facilitate the continued, successful growth of our business. The open floor concept allows for easy collaboration and innovation and includes a product development area for design concepts and studying completed products.”
The location of the new building, next to Highway 41, allows for easy access off a major state highway in the rapidly growing Scheuring Road area. Designed by the architectural firm Performa and LEED project administrator, Miron Construction Company, the building has energy efficient lighting and controls systems, an outdoor air delivery monitoring system, as well as a measurement and verification system that yields a 25% energy cost savings. Low-flow plumbing fixtures reduce water consumption by 52%, compared to conventional plumbing fixtures.
In addition to the Hamilton Scientific move, the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum which represents the rich legacy of the original Hamilton company dating to 1880, has relocated to 1816 10th Street in Two Rivers, WI. The Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum is the only museum dedicated to the preservation, study, production and printing of wood type with many original Hamilton artifacts on display. With 1.5 million pieces of wood type and more than 1,000 styles and sizes of patterns, Hamilton’s collection is one of the premier wood type collections in the world.
