Real-Time Measurement and Control
The PCI-7041/6040E real-time board features a dedicated onboard 700 MHz Pentium III processor capable of loop rates up to 26 kHz. This real-time board can run up to 17 times faster than previous NI plug-in RT Series boards. Control engineers also can use it to build customized, integrated real-time applications that run independent of the operating system on the host PC, protecting the application from system interruptions. When combined with the LabVIEW graphical development environment, engineers have the tools they need to develop and run complex models for real-time applications such as control prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop testing. The 32 MB of non-volatile CompactFlash memory on the board stores embedded software, the user application and collected data, while a built in RS-232 serial port provides communication to peripheral devices such as serial-based I/O modules. With the new stand-alone features on this real-time board, engineers can even create deterministic applications that can run on a passive PCI backplane, completely independent of a host machine.
