REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. (AP) — Software company Oracle Corp. said Tuesday that it has agreed to buy Endeca Technologies Inc., a provider of data management and Web commerce products.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Based in Cambridge, Mass., Endeca provides products that help companies analyze data and gain better business intelligence.
The deal is expected to close before the end of the year.
Oracle said the acquisition cones at a time of significant growth of “unstructured data” being created by customers and businesses alike. Such data — found in email, social networks, blogs and presentations, for example — can be difficult to organize and analyze. Endeca’s products help businesses analyze this data.
“Oracle and Endeca have many of the same customers, across many industries — and our products are complementary,” Oracle said in a statement.
Oracle’s shares climbed 24 cents to $31.47 in afternoon trading.
