Stroz Friedberg LLC, a global digital risk management and investigations firm, announced the opening of a new office in Chicago; expanding the firm’s global presence to 10 locations. David Glockner, former Chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO), Northern District of Illinois who will lead the office, and Joseph Alesia, who served as Senior Counsel — Ethics & Compliance at Baxter International, join Stroz Friedberg as Managing Directors.

Prior to his role as Chief of the Criminal Division, Mr. Glockner served as lead prosecutor for a wide range of investigations and prosecutions, including significant financial institution fraud, securities fraud, public corruption, labor racketeering and narcotics trafficking cases. He has been a leader in the USAO’s computer and intellectual property crime program since early 1990s, training prosecutors and agents on computer and intellectual property crime matters and served as co-chair of NDIL district court’s criminal e-discovery committee. Mr. Glockner actively participated as supervisor in nearly all of USAO’s major prosecutions since 2001 (including series of nationally prominent public corruption cases), helping to make significant charging, legal, and trial strategy decisions. Mr. Glockner received his J.D. degree from Stanford University Law School, and his A.B. degree from the University of Chicago.
At Baxter International, Mr. Alesia managed the company’s global internal investigations program to insure compliance with healthcare fraud and abuse laws as well as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. For more than seven years, Mr. Alesia was with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Illinois, holding positions of increasing authority culminating with his appointment as Deputy Supervisor — Narcotics & Gangs Section in 2007. In this position, he supervised eight Assistant United States Attorneys and led investigations of international narcotics trafficking and criminal activity committed by members of structured street gangs, as well as reviewed white collar, export control, bank robbery and public corruption cases. In addition, Mr. Alesia has worked for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office as Deputy Supervisor, Gang Crimes Unit. He is currently a Lecture in Law at The University of Chicago Law School. Mr. Alesia received his J.D. degree from DePaul University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, from Valparaiso University.
