TVU Networks to Unveil New Technological Advancements in 3G/4G Cellular Uplink Solutions at IBC 2012

By R&D Editors | August 1, 2012

TVU Networks, the global technology leader in portable live electronic news gathering (ENG) broadcast solutions, announced today that the company will unveil new technological advancements in cellular uplink solutions at IBC 2012, taking place September 7-11 at RAI Amsterdam, Netherlands.

At the conference, TVU (Exhibition Hall 2, Booth B28) will showcase a number of resilient solutions that will extend broadcasters’ ability to capture and share live footage from practically any location around the world. TVU will give live demonstrations of its award-winning TVUPack 8100 and TVUPack Mini, which are relied upon by top broadcasters around the globe to deliver tens of thousands of hours of live footage every month. TVU will also demonstrate TVU Anywhere, TVU’s live mobile broadcast solution for Windows, iOS and Android handheld devices.

“TVU has become a trusted technology partner for hundreds of the leading broadcasters around the globe because of our ability to deliver a wide ecosystem of solutions for transmitting professional-quality HD video,” said Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. “Whether broadcasters are looking for mobile backpacks, camera mounted solutions, or even plugins that enable live video from their smart devices, TVU is able to deliver the most advanced solutions available. IBC 2012 will be a watershed show for TVU as we showcase our award-winning technology and introduce new technology and solutions which will revolutionize the nature of 3G/4G video broadcasting.”

Already in use by hundreds of leading broadcast organizations around the world, TVUPack gives broadcasters satellite and microwave TV truck functionality in a lightweight backpack. TVUPack is the original one button operation backpack, is simple to use and provides broadcasters with low-latency, HD-quality signal that enables them to broadcast live at any time and from any location. TVUPack has been used to deliver professional-quality live HD footage of a number of important events including the London Olympics, U.S. presidential election primaries, the World Cup, April’s Friends of Syria conference in Paris, and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s recent tour of the Middle East and North Africa.

TVUPack is powered by TVU’s proprietary Inverse StatMux technology, which dynamically segments a live video signal and transmits the segments through multiple independent 3G/4G/WiFi/WiMax connections, and the industry’s first TVU variable bit-rate (VBR) technology, which dynamically adjusts the compression ratio according to the total available bandwidth. TVUPack also incorporates Qualcomm RaptorQ advanced forward error correction and an enhanced H.264 encoder. As a result, TVUPack is able to deliver unmatched stability, resiliency and picture quality — even in the most challenging network environments.
